Diddy Honored with Key to New York City Following Release of ‘The Love Album’

Sean “Diddy” Combs received a special honor on Friday (Sept. 15), the very day he unveiled his new studio album in 17 years.

Mayor Eric Adams proudly announced, “The bad boy of entertainment is getting the key to the city from the bad boy of politics!” as he presented Diddy with a sizable key in the heart of Times Square.

In response, the entertainer graciously expressed his gratitude to Adams and exclaimed, “Diddy finally has the key to the city!” Diddy, aged 53, hails from New York City and was raised in the neighboring Mount Vernon.

His latest album, “The Love Album – Off the Grid,” marks his return to solo studio work after a hiatus of 17 years. The album boasts an impressive lineup of nearly 30 guest artists, including Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber, H.E.R., Babyface, John Legend, and Busta Rhymes.

Diddy also graced the 2023 MTV VMAs stage in New Jersey on Sunday night, where he treated the audience to a career-spanning medley of his hits and accepted the prestigious MTV Global Icon award. During his acceptance speech, the Billboard cover star expressed his gratitude to the crowd and described the award as “a dream come true for me. I grew up watching MTV and thought, ‘Man, I wish one day I could be up there,'” before leading the audience in a spirited “Baaaad Boyyyyy” chant.
