Tory Lanez Denied Release From Prison After Losing Latest Bail Bid

Tory Lanez’s request to be released on bond from prison has been met with a denial from a California Court of Appeal judge.
Court documents obtained by legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff reveal that the judge, on a Friday morning ruling, rejected Lanez’s plea for freedom as he continues to appeal his conviction in connection with the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
The ruling cited, “Appellant has not shown that the superior court unjustifiably denied relief or otherwise shown by clear and convincing evidence entitlement to relief.” Furthermore, the judge noted that the rapper “currently stands convicted of a violent felony, which is a factor a court shall consider in determining whether the defendant poses a danger to the community.”

Consequently, Lanez was transferred to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, to commence his sentence. Despite the setback, Lanez conveyed a message to his supporters from behind bars, assuring them of his positive outlook despite a prolonged prison sentence.
In his message, Lanez acknowledged his time in county jail and shared that he had endured various hardships during his incarceration. He had faced 24-hour lockdown, confined to a half-sized cell, with no access to windows or mirrors. Remarkably, he expressed hope that he would soon regain his freedom.
