Christopher Murray Announces Debut Single “I Just Dropped By To Say Hello”
Philadelphia-based jazz and blues vocalist Christopher Murray is set to release his debut single, “I Just Dropped By To Say Hello”. The release marks the first glimpse into his highly anticipated album, “Introducing Chris Murray CLASSICS featuring Gabe Preston,” scheduled for January 2025.
Drawing inspiration from legendary vocalists like Al Jarreau, Nat King Cole, Rachelle Farrell, and Whitney Houston, Murray has cultivated a distinctive voice through years of performing in churches and venues throughout Philadelphia. His unique interpretations of classic songs bring fresh perspectives to beloved standards while maintaining their timeless appeal.
Murray performs with Soul Frequency, a dynamic collective of musicians whose lineup can expand from an intimate 4-piece ensemble to a full 10-piece band or larger. This flexible arrangement allows the group to seamlessly blend jazz, R&B, Latin, and even hip-hop elements into their performances, creating unique arrangements of classics like “Summertime,” “Nature Boy,” and “My Way.”
