Céline Dion returned to the concert stage in Paris on Saturday, Sept. 12, marking her first full concert in more than six years. The singer opened her long-awaited residency at Plénitude Arena in front of a sold-out audience, beginning an initial run of 16 performances in the French capital.

Dion became emotional almost immediately during the opening number, “On Ne Change Pas.” She paused as tears came to her eyes before addressing the crowd and continuing the performance. She had previously promised fans that she would return to the stage, making the opening moments particularly significant to the concert.

The performance featured several of Dion’s best-known songs, including “My Heart Will Go On,” “All by Myself” and “The Power of Love.” Her set also included French-language favorites, reflecting the singer’s longstanding connection with French audiences.

Another major moment came as Dion interacted with the audience throughout the show, expressing gratitude for the fans who continued to support her during her extended absence from live performances. The concert combined her familiar vocal performances with a new stage production created for the Paris residency.

The return follows years away from regular touring after Dion revealed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder. The condition forced her to cancel her Courage World Tour and step away from full-scale performances.

Dion did make limited public performances during her hiatus, most notably her appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, but Saturday’s show marked her first complete concert since March 2020.

The Paris residency generated substantial demand before opening night. The scheduled performances sold out after millions of fans sought access to tickets, with the engagement eventually expanding beyond its original plans.

The comeback also comes after the release of “Dansons,” a new French-language song written by Jean-Jacques Goldman and released by Dion earlier in 2026. The song marked new recorded music from the singer during the period leading into her return to the stage.

Dion’s Paris engagement continues with additional performances throughout September and October, with further shows planned in 2027. The opening-night performance has now officially launched her latest chapter of live performances in France.
