Is Role Model the Most Famous Person From Maine? Here’s What He Said on ‘Chicken Shop Date’

Role Model addressed his status among Maine’s best-known celebrities during the latest episode of Amelia Dimoldenberg’s “Chicken Shop Date,” where the singer compared his growing music career with the achievements of fellow Maine natives Stephen King and Anna Kendrick.

The episode premiered Friday, Oct. 2, as the final season of “Chicken Shop Date” got underway. During the conversation, Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, brought up Kendrick when discussing famous people from his home state. Dimoldenberg then mentioned King, the bestselling author who was born in Portland, Maine, and grew up in the state.

Pillsbury acknowledged that King has achieved a level of commercial success that surpasses his own. “He’s probably sold more stuff than me,” he said, adding that King has “got more money.”

Dimoldenberg responded directly, telling the singer that he was “not as successful as Stephen King.” Pillsbury joked that the comparison was hurting his feelings before pointing out that the two work in completely different fields.

The conversation also touched on Pillsbury’s recent career progress. His latest album, Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, became his first top 10 entry on the Billboard 200. The album moved 24,000 equivalent units in the United States during its opening week, according to Luminate.

The project includes “Love I You,” which features a spoken-word contribution from actress Dakota Johnson. Pillsbury and Johnson were previously in a relationship, and her appearance on the album became part of the discussion surrounding the project.

During the “Chicken Shop Date” interview, Dimoldenberg also asked Pillsbury about his romantic preferences. He initially avoided giving a direct answer, telling her that he loved people before eventually acknowledging that he is attracted to brunettes.

Pillsbury then turned the exchange into another joke, telling Dimoldenberg that some people could be “brunette on the inside” and saying he felt a connection with her in that sense.

The interview arrives during a major period for Pillsbury, who has continued promoting Chuck Timely & The Hourglass after releasing the album in August. The Cape Elizabeth, Maine, native also performed his first concert in his home state earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Dimoldenberg announced in September that the 2026 season would be the final series of “Chicken Shop Date.” The show, which began in 2014, has featured guests including Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran and Jennifer Lawrence during its 12-year run.
