KATSEYE Takes ‘Hootie Frutti’ to Brazil With New Pedro Sampaio Remix: Stream It Now

KATSEYE has teamed up with Brazilian DJ and producer Pedro Sampaio for a new remix of “Hootie Frutti,” bringing the track’s existing Brazilian influences further into the world of baile funk. The new version, titled “Hootie Frutti (feat. MC GW & Clementaum) [PEDRO SAMPAIO Remix],” was released on Oct. 2 and is accompanied by a new dance video.

The remix also features Brazilian funk artist MC GW and DJ and producer Clementaum. Sampaio’s production adds heavier bass, punchier percussion and a more pronounced baile funk rhythm to the song, while retaining KATSEYE’s original vocals.

Yoonchae opens the remix with the phrase “Pe-dro Sam-pai-o, vai!,” a signature introduction associated with Sampaio’s music and performances. MC GW contributes additional vocals, while Clementaum adds her own presence to the Brazilian funk-influenced production.

The collaboration was first previewed by Sampaio during his performance at Rock in Rio in September. The official release now includes a dance video featuring Sampaio and his dance crew performing choreography alongside the remix.

“HOOTIE FRUTTI” originally appeared on KATSEYE’s third EP, WILD, which was released in August. The original track already incorporated Brazilian funk elements and Portuguese-language vocals, while its music video featured references to Brazilian culture and designs from Brazilian fashion designers.

The original “Hootie Frutti” reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for five weeks. It also reached the top 20 on Spotify’s Global chart, while the song’s music video surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.

The new remix marks Sampaio’s first official collaboration with KATSEYE and adds another connection between the Brazilian funk scene and the global girl group. Sampaio said the project reflects his efforts to take Brazilian funk to audiences in other parts of the world and connect with artists from different musical scenes.

The release arrives as KATSEYE continues its The Wild World Tour. The group is scheduled to begin its North American leg in Miami on Oct. 13 before visiting cities including Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Boston, Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles and Mexico City. Several dates on the tour have sold out.

Sampaio is also continuing his international schedule following his recent collaboration with Ricky Martin on “pikito pikito.” The pair performed the song during the halftime show at the NFL’s first regular-season game in Rio de Janeiro on Sept. 27, adding another international collaboration to Sampaio’s current run of releases.
