After a five-year hiatus, the hip-hop competition extravaganza, Rhythm + Flow, is set to make a powerful comeback with its second season on Netflix. The show, which previously crowned Grammy-nominated MC D Smoke as its first champion and featured guest judges like Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, and T.I., is gearing up for a sensational return with an exciting lineup of new judges.

Joining the Rhythm + Flow family as judges for the upcoming season are the dynamic trio of Latto, DJ Khaled, and Ludacris. Eminem will also make a special appearance as a guest judge during the intense “Battle Round” competition, adding an extra layer of star power to the show.

Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s VP of nonfiction series, expressed his excitement for the revamped season, stating, “We are taking things up a notch with a new cast of global hitmakers in our judges and a new pool of undiscovered artists.” He added, “Hip-hop continues to evolve, so it’ll be thrilling to see Ludacris, Latto, and DJ Khaled mentoring contestants during their journeys, along with legendary guest judges like Eminem providing their brand of insight and advice.”

Executive producers Jessie Collins and Dionne Harmon shared their enthusiasm for the collaboration with Netflix, emphasizing the significant role the judges play in shaping the evolving spirit of hip-hop. “We are so excited to partner with Netflix for the second season of Rhythm + Flow. This season features a powerhouse panel of judges, each with a distinct and influential role in hip-hop culture,” they said in a joint statement. “In this significant moment for the genre, the focus extends beyond the music alone. We’re seeking unconventional voices and authentic stories that peel back layers and invite fans to immerse themselves in the contestants’ world as we spotlight the continually evolving spirit of hip-hop.”

While the premiere date for the second season is yet to be announced, fans can anticipate a thrilling journey through the world of hip-hop later this year. The show, known for its game-changing mentorship, has previously featured notable guest stars such as Miguel, Jhené Aiko, Snoop Dogg, and the late Nipsey Hussle.

In the inaugural season, D Smoke emerged victorious, securing a $250,000 prize. His success continued with two Grammy nominations in 2021, including Best Rap Album. As Rhythm + Flow gears up for its return, anticipation is high for the fresh talent, compelling stories, and the ever-evolving landscape of hip-hop culture that the upcoming season promises to deliver.
