Kendrick Lamar Unveils Video for Billboard-Topping Drake Diss Track “Not Like Us”
Kendrick Lamar has released the highly anticipated music video for his chart-dominating Drake diss track “Not Like Us.” The video, filmed on June 22 and released on July 4, showcases Lamar’s hometown of Compton, California, featuring enthusiastic fans and local landmarks.
The visual, directed by Dave Free and Lamar himself, includes several notable scenes:
- Lamar and producer Mustard outside Tam’s Burger, a local Compton eatery.
- Lamar’s partner Whitney Alford dancing with their children, seemingly addressing Drake’s accusations from “Family Matters.”
- Subtle jabs at Drake, including Lamar beating an owl piñata and observing a caged owl.
“Not Like Us” has made history as one of the most successful diss tracks ever, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This release follows Lamar’s recent career resurgence, including his widely acclaimed “The Pop Out – Ken & Friends” concert on Juneteenth.
The video’s release has fueled speculation about a potential new album from the rapper. It also serves as a powerful statement in Lamar’s ongoing lyrical feud with Drake, which began in May.
Mustard, wearing a Toronto Blue Jays hat in the video, has denied any intention to troll Drake with this wardrobe choice.
This visual release further cements “Not Like Us” as a strong contender for song of the summer, showcasing Lamar’s continued dominance in the hip-hop landscape.
