Extra Time Tackles Sensitive Subject in New Single “The Boy Who Dreamed of the Stars”
Extra Time has released their third single, “The Boy Who Dreamed of the Stars,” from their critically acclaimed album “Songs With Long Titles”. The single, accompanied by a music video, showcases the band’s ability to address difficult subjects with sensitivity and artistic finesse.
“The Boy Who Dreamed of the Stars” delves into the challenging topic of child abuse, specifically exploring how predators target and lure young children. The song’s narrative revolves around a poignant metaphor of a telescope and an offer to see the stars, illustrating the insidious nature of such predatory behaviour.
Brendan, the songwriter, draws from personal experience to craft a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. “As a survivor of this situation, I finally wanted to address this subject through a song as my way of dealing with something that was buried a long way in my past,” Brendan explains. “The song is an attempt to process this experience and deal positively with the trauma that you can experience in life and hopefully still come out the other side.”
The single continues Extra Time’s tradition of creating music that is both emotionally impactful and sonically intricate. Their unique blend of cinematic elements and complex harmonies provides a fitting backdrop for the weighty themes explored in “The Boy Who Dreamed of the Stars.”
“The Boy Who Dreamed of the Stars” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
