Apple Reportedly Designing Special Edition Watch “X” in Anticipation of 10th Anniversary
As the Apple Watch inches closer to its 10th anniversary, rumors abound of a special commemorative release named the “Apple Watch X.” In the latest installment of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman sheds light on Apple’s purported plans for this milestone edition.
Having made its debut in April 2015, the original Apple Watch marked the genesis of a revolutionary journey, setting the stage for the anticipated “Apple Watch X” to make its entrance in the coming year or two.
Gurman’s insights suggest that the Watch X will transcend the incremental updates typical of yearly Apple Watch releases. With the Apple Watch Series 9 set for a September 12 release, the Watch X is expected to surpass even these forthcoming enhancements.
The spotlight, however, falls on the Watch X’s significant design overhaul. Reports indicate that Apple engineers are striving to create a sleeker watch case, ushering in a refined aesthetic. While the compatibility of Apple’s watch bands across various models is preserved, the Watch X appears poised to introduce an innovative band-securing mechanism.
Addressing this modification, Gurman commented, “People involved in the development of new Apple Watches say the system takes up a considerable amount of space that could be better filled with a bigger battery or other components.”
Furthermore, it is rumored that the Apple Watch X will showcase a state-of-the-art microLED display, replacing the existing OLED screen. Adding to its arsenal of capabilities, the Watch X is rumored to incorporate blood pressure monitoring functionality.
As enthusiasts await official confirmation from Apple, the anticipation surrounding the potential “Apple Watch X” continues to grow, amplifying excitement for the anticipated 10th-anniversary celebration.
