21 Savage & Cardi B Tops Nominations for 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards: Full Nominations

The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards are around the corner, and the competition is fierce, with Cardi B and 21 Savage taking the lead with a remarkable 12 nominations each. These two heavyweights of the hip-hop scene are set to go head-to-head in a staggering seven categories. From Best Collaboration to Lyricist of the Year, Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Hustler of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse, and Song of the Year, it’s a showdown you won’t want to miss.

Following closely behind in the nomination race is the incomparable Drake, securing an impressive nine nods. Right behind Drake are Burna Boy and DJ Khaled, both with seven nominations each, and J. Cole with six. Coi Leray, GloRilla, and Jay-Z have five nominations each, while Lil Uzi Vert boasts four. DaBaby, Kendrick Lamar, Latto, Lil Durk, Megan Thee Stallion, and Metro Boomin each have three nods to their names. It’s a star-studded lineup that showcases the best in hip-hop.

Notably, five female rappers have earned multiple nominations, with Cardi B leading the pack, followed by Coi Leray, GloRilla, Latto, and Megan Thee Stallion, making this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards an emblem of female excellence in the genre.

The highly anticipated awards show will be taped in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3rd, and will premiere on BET just one week later, on Tuesday, October 10th, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, expressed her excitement, saying, “This year’s BET Hip Hop Awards will mark the culmination of our yearlong celebration of hip-hop’s storied creation and the art form’s sonic and cultural expansion. We are honored by this year’s roster of nominees as they continue to carry the creativity and diversity of hip-hop into the future. We congratulate each nominee on their accomplishments as they take hip-hop artistry to new heights.”

The annual show will be overseen by Connie Orlando herself, alongside Jamal Noisette, BET’s VP of Specials & Music Programming; Jesse Collins, CEO of Jesse Collins Entertainment; and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay and Dionne Harmon, top executives at Jesse Collins Entertainment. With this incredible team at the helm, the BET Hip Hop Awards promise “not-to-be-missed moments and performances” as they celebrate 50 years of hip-hop.
