Tyrine the Artist Turns Patience and Faith Into ‘Don’t Muv’
Tyrine the Artist builds his latest single around a simple but difficult idea: sometimes faith means knowing when not to move. The Spartanburg, South Carolina Christian hip-hop artist and producer brings that message to Don’t Muv, the first single from his album Elapsed Time Volume 2.

Inspired by Joshua 6:10 and 6:20, Don’t Muv focuses on patience, obedience and trusting God’s timing. The song speaks to the frustration that can come with waiting, especially when uncertainty makes action feel easier. Instead, Tyrine turns that tension into a reminder to remain grounded in faith until the right moment arrives.
The message sits over a classic boom-bap foundation, connecting biblical reflection with the hip-hop culture that has long shaped Tyrine’s creative identity. His Bandcamp release notes reinforce the central idea: “God commands us as well not to move too early or too late!” The phrase captures the balance at the heart of the song. Faith is not simply about moving forward. Sometimes, it is about having the discipline to stay still.
The song also grew from a creative community. Don’t Muv began within The Beat, a group of Christian music creators Tyrine formed at his church, The Purpose Place, in fall 2025. The original album recording features DJ HYM, Toshia Nesbitt and Zay, while the streaming release arrives as Don’t Muv (Alt. Version).
In 2026, Tyrine also adopted Tyrine the Artist as his artistic identity, moving on from the name Dakarai Spiritual. The change reflects his decision to stand behind his work under his own name while continuing to balance his roles as a husband, father, pastor and chaplain. Across those roles, his musical mission remains focused on spreading the Gospel through hip-hop.
