Sabrina Carpenter has won her first Primetime Emmy after The Muppet Show took home the award for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, Sept. 5. Carpenter was recognized as an executive producer and performer on the Disney+ special.

The Emmy marks Carpenter’s latest major awards milestone following her two Grammy wins. Her first television academy award also puts her halfway toward the EGOT distinction, which requires wins at the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards.

The Muppet Show won four of its six Emmy nominations during the first night of the Creative Arts ceremonies. Along with Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), the production won Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special.

The Disney+ special competed in the variety-special category against productions including Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable…, Nikki Glaser: Good Girl and Wicked: One Wonderful Night.

Carpenter later celebrated the award on Instagram, expressing pride in the Muppets production team and referring to the work that went into making the special. She appeared in the project alongside characters including Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

The Emmy win comes as The Muppet Show marks the 50th anniversary of the original series, which premiered in September 1976. The 2026 special brought the franchise back to television through Disney+ and featured Carpenter among its executive producers and performers.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will continue with the main ceremony on Sept. 14, hosted by Mariska Hargitay and airing live on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
