Fourteen concertgoers were hospitalized during The Chainsmokers’ concert at Discovery Meadow in San Jose, California, on Friday, Sept. 4, after emergency crews responded to multiple reports of people requiring medical attention. The San Jose Fire Department said the first call came in at approximately 8:22 p.m., prompting an expanded emergency response at the outdoor show.

The fire department requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life-support units and a battalion chief to manage the situation. Fourteen ambulances ultimately responded, with 14 patients transported to local hospitals. Other attendees were treated by medical personnel at the venue.

According to local authorities, several of the medical cases involved suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues. At least 10 people were transported to hospitals during the final 30 minutes of the concert, according to local reporting. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the individual conditions of those hospitalized.

The concert began at 5 p.m., and the fire department’s response was completed later that evening, with emergency resources returning to service at approximately 10:34 p.m. San Jose police officers also assisted with traffic control around the venue. No arrests or fatalities have been reported in connection with the incident.

The Chainsmokers, made up of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, have not publicly commented on the hospitalizations. The duo continued its tour the following day, performing at Encore Beach Club at Wynn Las Vegas on Sept. 5.

The San Jose incident comes as The Chainsmokers continue a busy 2026 touring schedule that has included major electronic music events and festival appearances. Their latest release, the five-song LOVE IS KIND EP, arrived in May.
