Pioneering Christian Hip Hop Group P.I.D. Returns with Powerful New Single “The Crucible”
Christian Hip Hop (CHH) legends P.I.D. (Preachers in Disguise) are making a significant comeback, reaffirming their status as founding fathers of the holy hip-hop movement. The group’s latest single, “The Crucible,” marks a powerful return for the veteran artists who have been instrumental in shaping the CHH landscape since 1986.
Comprising three ordained ministers and accomplished performers — Fred Lynch, Jonathan “King Solomon Jay” Johnson, and Richard “Ace One The MC” Martin — P.I.D. brings decades of musical and spiritual expertise to their newest project. The group’s name, “Preachers in Disguise,” originates from their foundational mission of using rap music as a powerful medium to share the gospel, embodying the concept of “Holy Ghost Preachers in rapping disguise.”
The group’s unexpected return stems from their involvement in the documentary “Mic Drop: The Culture of Christian Hip Hop,” which explores the true origins of CHH.
