Noah Kahan is set to perform Simon & Garfunkel’s classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the “In Memoriam” segment at the 2026 Emmy Awards. The performance is scheduled for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will take place Sept. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Kahan’s appearance will be part of the annual tribute honoring television industry figures who have died over the past year. The Television Academy maintains an official “In Memoriam” list recognizing performers, writers, producers and other professionals from across the television industry.

“Bridge Over Troubled Water” was originally recorded by Simon & Garfunkel and became one of the duo’s signature songs after its release in 1970. Kahan is expected to perform his version of the song during the tribute rather than one of his own original tracks.

The announcement comes as Kahan is in the middle of a major year following the release of his fourth studio album, The Great Divide. The album arrived April 24, 2026, following the release of its title track, which became Kahan’s highest-streaming launch at the time and reached No. 1 on Spotify’s U.S. Top Songs chart.

Kahan is also among the artists who have been active on the 2026 live-music circuit, with The Great Divide Tour supporting the new album. His current era has included major performances and continued attention around the album’s songs and themes.

The Emmy tribute will come shortly after the two-night Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were held Sept. 5 and 6. More than 100 awards were presented during those ceremonies, including a posthumous acting Emmy for Rob Reiner for his role in The Bear.

The 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Mariska Hargitay and broadcast live on NBC and Peacock on Sept. 14. The ceremony will feature the major acting, series and program categories following the Creative Arts ceremonies earlier in the month.

Kahan’s performance of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is now set to be one of the musical moments of the ceremony, with the song accompanying the presentation honoring members of the television community who have died since the previous Emmy season.
