NikaVera Finds Her Way Back to Her Roots on New Pop-Rock Single “La mia città”

Italian singer NikaVera explores the pull between personal ambition and the comfort of home on her new single, “La mia città.” Blending pop-rock with electronic elements, the track reflects on the challenges of growing up, making life-changing decisions and finding a place where you truly belong.

Written during a period of personal reflection as she approached the end of her university studies, “La mia città” captures a familiar dilemma. For many young adults, big cities represent opportunity, independence and the chance to build a different future. Yet, leaving home can also mean stepping away from the people, memories and places that have shaped their identity.

NikaVera brings this conflict into the heart of the song. Caught between the fast pace of the metropolis and the quieter atmosphere of her hometown, she begins to recognise the importance of her origins. Rather than viewing home as something that holds her back, she presents it as a place of comfort, balance and renewed strength.

The pop-rock foundation, enriched with electronic undertones, supports this intimate and generational story. Through its sound and message, the single gives voice to the uncertainties, ambitions and fears that often accompany major life decisions. Ultimately, “La mia città” becomes a love letter to the place she calls home, and to the relationships and memories that continue to shape her.

Written and composed by NikaVera and Luca Napolitano, known for his participation in Amici 8, “La mia città” also features musical production overseen by Napolitano. The project was developed under the artistic supervision of Maestro Enzo Campagnoli, with Gianni Testa serving as artistic director. Testa and Gianna Martorella also work together as the artist’s co-managers. The single is produced by Joseba Publishing and distributed by Virgin Music Group Italy.

Born Veronica Mancini in Pisa on January 6, 1978, NikaVera grew up in Piombino before moving to Florence, where she earned a law degree in 2004. After briefly training as a lawyer, she built a career in the banking sector as a retail financial consultant. However, music remained an important part of her life from an early age.

Her interest in singing began in childhood. At nine, she won the Festival dei Piccoli Città di Piombino. Three years later, she met Andrea Bocelli, who wrote “Noi siamo così” for her. She later performed the song at various competitions and events. Alongside music, she also pursued tennis and reached Serie C level by the age of 16.

In 1999, performing under the name Chandra, she recorded the dance track “To the MOON,” which appeared on the compilation album Time Machine. She continued developing her musical career through television appearances, live performances and collaborations. In 2002, she appeared on Rai Uno’s I Raccomandati, while later milestones included participation in Detto Mariano Story in 2018 and a duet with Bocelli on La Porta dei Sogni in 2019.

From 2015, she also worked on refining her vocal technique at Accademia Le Muse. Her later appearances included Bussola Oggi and Sanremo Senior, where she reached the finals in 2022. In 2024, she appeared on E…Viva il Videobox, before joining The Voice Generations in 2026.

Now performing as NikaVera, she continues to build a new chapter through original music. With “La mia città,” she turns a deeply personal question about leaving and returning into a song about identity, belonging and the importance of remembering where you come from.
