Neil C. Young Trio Unveils Intimate New Single “AggenAnonAggen Pt.2” Ahead of Vinyl EP Release

Manchester’s Neil C. Young Trio reveals a strikingly intimate side with their newly released single “AggenAnonAggen Pt.2,” released on June 15, 2025. This contemplative new work marks a deliberate departure from the group’s signature electric fusion sound, instead embracing the naked beauty of acoustic instrumentation and a slow, swaying triple meter that evokes the meditative quality of spiritual hymnals.

Conceived initially for a sync brief requesting instrumental folk music, the composition unexpectedly became a vessel for guitarist Neil C. Young’s personal reflections on life’s cyclical nature – its joys, sorrows, and quiet epiphanies. The track’s development followed an equally unconventional path, with band members recording their parts separately across Northwest England’s landscape, from Cumbria’s rolling hills to Stockport’s urban spaces, before the elements were woven together into a cohesive whole.

Young’s acoustic guitar work carries the melody with tender precision, its nostalgic quality hinting at his concurrent deep dive into Bob Dylan’s “Wigwam” and Jimmy Webb’s songbook during the creative process. Miguel Boleta’s delicate percussion and Dave Murray’s resonant bass provide just enough structure to support the piece’s gentle ebb and flow, creating space for listeners to project their own memories and emotions onto the music.

This single serves as the first preview of an innovative 3-track vinyl EP slated for autumn release, which will present the composition in three distinct incarnations: the original solo guitar version that birthed the idea, this acoustic trio interpretation, and the electric fusion arrangement the group performs live. Each version promises to reveal new dimensions of the same melodic core.

For fans of the trio’s typically expansive improvisations, “AggenAnonAggen Pt.2” demonstrates their equal mastery of restraint and intentionality. The absence of extended solos focuses attention on the composition itself – a meditation set to music that feels both timeless and refreshingly original. As the first fruits of the group’s remote recording experiments, it also points toward exciting new creative possibilities for their future work.

“AggenAnonAggen Pt.2” is out now on Bandcamp, offering a moment of quietude in our noisy world and a tantalizing preview of the trio’s evolving artistic vision. This is music to get lost in – the kind that lingers in your thoughts long after the final note fades.
