Born from the creative spark between drummer-composer Francesco Mascaretti and maestro Kenny Del Castillo’s dance company Latin Café, “Latin Café 2.0” channels the fusion of Latin dance and modern sound into a vivid musical experience.

“Latin Café 2.0” moves through five distinct rhythmic traditions: Peruvian Festejo, swing, Afro-Cuban grooves, Cuban conga, and Uruguayan candombe, without treating them as sequential movements. Mascaretti, who founded Malamañoso layers the styles into a unified track that traces Latin America’s story from Indigenous peoples through the African diaspora, dictatorships, and resistance movements.

With this new release, Malamañoso embarks on a rhythmic journey across Latin America, blending the rich diversity of its traditions. The song embodies both deep respect for heritage and an openness to modernity.

Lyrically, “Latin Café 2.0” tells the story of Latin America’s soul, its Indigenous roots, African diaspora, struggles under dictatorship, and the timeless pursuit of justice, peace, and freedom. At its core, the message resounds: “A united people will never be defeated.”

The track features legendary drummer Rodney Barreto, whose signature groove adds energy and authenticity.
