Madonna and Charli xcx are set to release their first musical collaboration, “Danceteria Afterhours,” on Thursday, Sept. 24. The track is a new version of “Danceteria,” from Madonna’s 2026 album Confessions II, and will arrive through Warner Records.

Madonna announced the release date on Sept. 21 after teasing the collaboration on social media. In a preview shared by the two artists, Madonna and Charli appear together in a white studio as a snippet of the new track plays. Madonna also delivers a line from the original “Danceteria” before the preview ends with the confirmed Sept. 24 release date.

“Danceteria Afterhours” reworks the Stuart Price-produced “Danceteria,” which appeared on Confessions II. The new collaboration is described as bringing together the musical influences and dance-floor backgrounds associated with both artists.

The collaboration follows several months of speculation about a potential Madonna and Charli xcx musical pairing. The two artists were seen together during Paris Fashion Week in June, including at a Saint Laurent event, and later continued interacting publicly on social media.

Madonna and Charli also participated in the CLUB CONFESSIONS event with Saint Laurent during Paris Fashion Week. Their appearances together, along with a series of social-media exchanges, helped fuel speculation that they were working on music together before the project was formally announced.

The upcoming release has been produced by Stuart Price, with Madonna, Andrew Watt, Cirkut and Price credited in reports surrounding the collaboration. The track connects Madonna’s longstanding dance-music catalog with Charli’s work in contemporary club-focused pop.

Physical editions of “Danceteria Afterhours” are also being offered. Three limited-edition CDs contain the Afterhours Mix featuring Charli xcx, a Harry Romero remix and the original version of “Danceteria.” The physical editions are available for preorder, with shipments scheduled for November.

The release comes during a busy period for Madonna. She is scheduled to open the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27, marking her first performance at the ceremony in 23 years. She currently has a career-high 13 nominations for this year’s ceremony.

“Danceteria Afterhours” also follows Madonna’s recent collaborations with Kylie Minogue on new versions of “Love Sensation.” Those releases arrived as part of the rollout surrounding Confessions II, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Charli xcx is meanwhile continuing her Music, Fashion, Film Tour, which began in September. The “Danceteria Afterhours” release will mark the first official recorded collaboration between the British pop artist and Madonna.
