Lil Wayne Joins NFL Network’s ‘NFL GameDay Morning’ as Weekly Guest
Lil Wayne is officially part of the NFL Network family. Starting this Sunday, Nov. 17, the hip-hop legend and devoted sports fan will appear weekly on NFL GameDay Morning, bringing his love for the game and unique perspective to the show. According to an announcement from the NFL on Monday (Nov. 11), Weezy will join the GameDay crew, which includes familiar faces like Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner, and Steve Mariucci, along with a host of NFL Network analysts and reporters.
The announcement came during halftime at the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers game in Munich, Germany, with a video showing Wayne running onto the field in support of his beloved Green Bay Packers. Wayne, who released the Packers theme song “Green & Yellow” in 2021, has a longstanding connection with the NFL. His fandom began with blog posts for ESPN the Magazine, a memorable appearance on Around the Horn, and his song “No Mercy” serving as the theme for Skip and Shannon: Undisputed in 2016.
Wayne’s latest NFL involvement follows his recent admission that missing out on headlining the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans next year felt like a big blow. Reflecting on Kendrick Lamar being selected instead, he shared that it “hurt a lot,” but also took accountability, saying he “wasn’t mentally prepared for a letdown.”
Now, as he takes on his newest role with the NFL Network, fans can look forward to seeing Lil Wayne bring his passionate and knowledgeable insights to NFL GameDay Morning.
