Geordie Greep Responds to Sexual Misconduct Allegation, Cancels Tour Dates
Geordie Greep, the former frontman of British rock band Black Midi, has canceled several dates on his North American tour following a sexual misconduct allegation made against him in Vancouver, Canada. The musician addressed the accusation during a concert on Thursday, October 8, denying that he had raped anyone while acknowledging that an encounter at a house party had left someone uncomfortable.
The controversy emerged outside Greep’s performance at The Pearl in Vancouver, where flyers were distributed to concertgoers accusing him of sexual misconduct. The flyers contained allegations relating to an incident said to have occurred on the morning of October 8. The claims circulated among attendees before Greep eventually appeared on stage, reportedly around two hours later than scheduled.

Greep performed without his regular backing band and spoke directly to the audience about the allegation. He said that he and some members of his band had gone out to bars before attending a house party, where he made an advance toward someone and believed he had misread the situation.
“I made a move, and it didn’t come off,” Greep told the audience, according to reports of the performance. He said he apologized quickly and described the encounter as a misunderstanding on his part. He also expressed regret and denied the accusation of rape, stating that the allegation did not reflect his account of what happened.
The singer explained that his bandmates were not joining him on stage because he did not want to pressure them into performing amid the controversy. He also told attendees that they could leave or request refunds if they were uncomfortable with the situation. Greep said proceeds from the Vancouver performance would be donated to an organization supporting people affected by violence.
Following the Vancouver show, several upcoming US performances were canceled. Concerts scheduled in Boise, Idaho; Salt Lake City, Utah; Boulder, Colorado; and Denver, Colorado, were among the affected dates. Ticket holders received cancellation notices from venues, with refunds available through the original points of purchase.
The status of other dates has been less consistent across reports. As of October 11, the Omaha concert scheduled for October 14 and a performance in Des Moines had been reported as remaining on the calendar in some coverage, although listings and cancellation notices continued to change. Greep had not issued a separate public statement explaining the tour cancellations.
The cancellations follow a North American tour supporting Greep’s solo work, including his 2024 album The New Sound. After Black Midi went on hiatus, Greep pursued a solo career, developing a sound that draws on progressive rock, jazz, Latin music and intricate guitar arrangements. His live performances have featured a group of musicians accompanying him on material from his solo release.
The allegation has also raised questions about Greep’s remaining international schedule. A European run was listed for November, with performances planned in several cities. As of October 11, there had been no confirmed announcement that the European dates would be canceled.
The latest reports confirm that multiple North American shows have been called off following the allegation and Greep’s onstage response in Vancouver. The musician has denied the accusation, and no independent finding establishing the allegation had been reported in the available coverage. Further details about the cancellations and the status of his remaining performances had not been announced by Greep or his representatives.
