Justin Bieber Remembers Grandfather Bruce Dale in Emotional Tribute: ‘I Will Miss U’
Justin Bieber is mourning the loss of his maternal grandfather, Bruce Dale, who passed away on April 24, 2025, at the age of 80. Dale died peacefully at the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth in Ontario, Bieber’s hometown. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 31-year-old Grammy winner shared memories of their time together, including humorous anecdotes about Dale giving him money for snacks at hockey games and heckling referees. Bieber expressed his grief and longing for a future reunion in heaven, posting a throwback photo from 2009 alongside the message:
“Papa, I always took all ur money lol. I remember u specifically telling me, gramma gave u an allowance of 20 dollars for the WEEK! I would always convince you to spend on snacks at the hockey … . Corn nuts, skittles, … .”
He continued,
“Shout out to the jr … .”
Bieber concluded his tribute with a message of love and remembrance:
“I can’t wait to see u … . Until then I know ur watching down … . I will miss u. I will … .”
Bruce Dale was a constant presence in Bieber’s life and career. He appeared in Bieber’s documentaries, including Never Say Never and Seasons, and was often seen supporting his grandson at concerts and events. In a 2018 interview, Dale became emotional discussing Bieber’s early performances, recalling driving eight hours to attend his first show and expressing pride in his grandson’s achievements.
Dale is survived by his wife, Diane Dale; children, including Bieber’s mother Pattie Mallette; and six great-grandchildren, including Bieber’s son, Jack Blues, born in August 2024.
