Diddy Returns Key to NYC After Mayor Eric Adams’ Request Over Cassie Ventura Assault Footage

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has returned his key to New York City following a request from Mayor Eric Adams, who condemned the artist’s abuse of his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
According to TMZ, the decision came after footage surfaced last month showing the alleged abuse. In a letter obtained by the outlet, Mayor Adams expressed his dismay, sending copies to Diddy’s Combs Entertainment LLC offices in New York and Los Angeles.
“I am deeply disturbed by the video,” Adams wrote. “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. Our city has worked tirelessly to ensure survivors are heard and seen by our administration.”
The key, Adams noted, is meant for “individuals whose service to the public and the common good rises to the highest level of achievement and who act as a model for fellow and future New Yorkers.” Based on the committee’s recommendation, the Mayor decided to nullify and rescind Diddy’s key.
The letter was sent on June 4, and Diddy returned the key six days later. He had originally received the honor in a 2023 ceremony celebrating the release of his project, The Love Album.
This action follows Howard University’s recent decision to revoke Diddy’s honorary degree and return his $1 million donation to the institution, though the pledge wasn’t fulfilled.
