Bonnie Tyler Fans Invited to Line the Streets in Wales for Final Farewell
Fans of the late Bonnie Tyler will have the opportunity to pay their final respects next month after her family announced funeral arrangements that include a public procession through her hometown in Wales.
According to a funeral notice issued on behalf of Tyler’s family by William Pressdee Funeralcare, members of the public have been invited to line Newton Road in Mumbles on Saturday, Aug. 15, as the singer’s coffin makes its way back to her home at approximately 3:30 p.m. Those wishing to pay their respects have been asked to gather from 3:15 p.m. to mark the beginning of her final journey.

A public celebration of Tyler’s life will follow on Monday, Aug. 17, at Swansea Minster (St. Mary’s Church) at noon. After the service, the procession will continue through Skewen, the village where the singer was born and raised, before a private family committal and farewell service.
The family has requested that mourners send family flowers only. Those wishing to honor Tyler’s memory have instead been encouraged to make donations to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales or Cerebral Palsy Cymru, two charities she supported during her lifetime.
The funeral notice described Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, as “a warm, generous artist whose music touched generations and continues to fill dance floors and karaoke booths around the world.” It added that her legacy lives on through the timeless songs that made her an international music icon.
Tyler died on July 8 at the age of 75 in Portugal after complications related to an illness for which she had been receiving treatment. News of her passing prompted tributes from fellow musicians, political leaders, and fans across the globe, celebrating a career that spanned more than five decades.
Best known for classics including “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “It’s a Heartache,” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” Tyler became one of Wales’ most celebrated musical exports. Her powerful, raspy vocals helped define pop-rock in the 1980s, while she continued touring and performing well into her seventies. She was appointed an MBE in 2023 for her services to music and remained an enduring presence on the international concert circuit until shortly before her death.
