Beyoncé and Taylor Swift Lead 2023 VMAs Nominations in Social Categories

The excitement for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards is building as the nominations continue to roll in. When the initial nominations were announced in early August, Beyoncé had secured a single nod for Artist of the Year. However, the latest release of nominations in four socially voted categories on September 1 has brought her three more nods, putting her on par with Taylor Swift, who also received three in these categories. SZA, BLACKPINK, Drake, Ice Spice, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER each received two nods in these social categories.

Of particular note is the Album of the Year category, which could offer a glimpse into the upcoming Grammy race. Swift’s “Midnights” and SZA’s “SOS,” both nominated here, are considered frontrunners for the Grammys. Even with the inclusion of these social categories, Swift remains the leader in total nominations with 11, followed by SZA with eight. Other prominent artists in the nominations include BLACKPINK, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, and Olivia Rodrigo.
