Colombian band Monsieur Periné has announced that it is taking an indefinite hiatus after nearly two decades together. The group shared the news Tuesday (Sept. 29) through a statement on Instagram, telling fans that its members had decided to separate while leaving open the possibility of reconnecting in the future.

“We’re parting ways,” the band wrote in its announcement. The members explained that they had spent considerable time discussing how to make the decision and how to communicate it to fans who had supported them since the beginning. They described it as one of the most difficult decisions they had made as a group.

Monsieur Periné said the members do not know how long the separation will last. The band said the immediate goal is to have individual space and suggested that they could potentially reconnect at another point in their lives and careers.

The announcement came with photographs documenting the band’s career, including moments from interviews, concerts and award ceremonies. The final image listed the group’s remaining scheduled performances, which comprise eight concerts across the United States and Latin America.

The final performances are scheduled to begin Sept. 29 in New Orleans and conclude Nov. 29 in Puerto Rico. The band’s public relations company, Guerrera PR & Marketing, confirmed that the shows will mark the closing of the current chapter before the indefinite pause.

Monsieur Periné was formed in Bogotá in 2007 and is led by vocalist Catalina García and multi-instrumentalist Santiago Prieto. The group became known for combining pop, jazz and rock with Latin American styles, developing its own sound through albums released across its nearly 20-year career.

The band released its debut album, Hecho a Mano, in 2012, followed by Caja de Música in 2015. The latter earned Monsieur Periné the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist. The group later released Encanto Tropical in 2018 and Bolero Apocalíptico in 2023, with the latter winning the Latin Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.

Monsieur Periné released Instrucciones Para Ser Feliz in April 2026. The album has since received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Pop Album, with the 27th annual ceremony scheduled for Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Among the group’s best-known songs is “Nuestra Canción,” featuring Vicente García, which reached No. 13 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and No. 9 on Latin Streaming Songs. Other recognized releases include “Bailar Contigo” and “Hora Loca,” featuring Rawayana.

The band’s final scheduled concerts will now take place as Monsieur Periné closes its current touring chapter. In its announcement, the group thanked fans for their support and said it would use the period apart to pursue individual space while leaving the future of the band open.
