Amanda Holley Brings Love, Soul, and Cinematic Storytelling to Life With “Seasoning”
Singer, songwriter, and musician Amanda Holley unveils the official music video for her acclaimed contemporary R&B single “Seasoning,” expanding the song’s celebration of love, soul, vulnerability, and human connection into a rich cinematic visual experience.
Blending infectious melodies, lush harmonies, soaring modulations, melodic rap, expressive storytelling, and Holley’s powerful yet sultry five-octave vocal range, “Seasoning” moves confidently between contemporary R&B, soul, pop, and urban influences. The result is a record that feels both modern and timeless while showcasing the full range of Holley’s artistry.
The single previously received First Round GRAMMY® Ballot consideration for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song, and its official visual now invites audiences further into the world created by the music.
Produced by GRAMMY-winning producer Andre Fennell (GC aka “Gate Citizens”) and written by Andre Fennell, Emmillienne Bellaire, and Amanda Holley, “Seasoning” is built around Holley’s belief that love, much like music, transcends cultures and generations.
The song explores the desire for soulful, sweet, and spicy love while embracing the vulnerability required to allow genuine connection into our lives. Through its expressive lyrics and passionate delivery, Holley reflects on the courage it takes to surrender to love and believe that we are worthy of experiencing it fully.
“‘Seasoning’ and soul go hand in hand,” says Holley. “Like music, seasoning transcends cultures and generations. It brings people together and becomes a catalyst for love and art.”
She continues by explaining that the song came from her own craving for “soulful, sweet, and spicy love,” but ultimately developed into something broader: an invitation to give ourselves permission to love deeply and without reservation, regardless of where we come from.
Holley’s distinctive five-octave range is central to the record. Her vocal performance moves between powerful delivery and sultry textures, while layered harmonies and expressive melodies add depth to the production. The song’s rhythmic foundation draws from contemporary R&B and soul while paying tribute to the artists and musical traditions that came before her.
The official music video takes those themes and translates them into movement, atmosphere, and visual storytelling. Rather than simply documenting the performance, the visual expands the emotional world of “Seasoning” through expressive choreography, cinematic storytelling, and dreamlike imagery.
Filmed throughout New York City’s Lower East Side and scenic locations across New York State, the video creates a contrast between the energy of the city and the natural beauty of cascading waterfalls. The combination allows the visual to mirror the song’s mixture of passion, intimacy, movement, and emotional release.
At the center of the visual is collaboration. Kevin Huang, Yulia Shusharina, and Amanda Holley directed the video, developing a cinematic language designed to follow the emotional arc of the song.
Original choreography by Frida Molina, performed alongside Chelsea Andell and Lia Fiahlo, brings another dimension to the visual. Their movement communicates passion, connection, and emotional expression, reinforcing the idea that music and art can communicate feelings beyond words.
The natural waterfall cinematography was created by Anky Ciriaque, while intimate in-studio performance sequences were captured at Los Depressos Studios NYC by Jonny Vergara, Riley Corcoran, and Bassy Bob Brockman. Full production was handled by Ralph Cooper II / Elevation Media.
Together, these elements create a visual experience designed to be as layered and immersive as the music itself. The city locations provide energy and movement, while the waterfalls introduce a sense of freedom and natural beauty, creating a visual representation of the emotional openness at the heart of “Seasoning.”
For Holley, the project represents another stage in an evolving artistic journey.
