Taylor Swift, Tinashe, Kenny Chesney & More: Highlights of This Week’s Billboard Charts

Taylor Swift, Tinashe, Kenny Chesney and several other artists made notable moves on this week’s Billboard charts, with Swift returning to the top of the Billboard 200 and claiming another No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a 13th nonconsecutive week. The album jumped from No. 21 to the top position following the Sept. 25 release of “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” which added four previously unreleased songs to the project.

The album earned 173,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending Oct. 1, according to Luminate. Streaming accounted for the majority of the total, with the four new songs driving a significant increase in activity.

Swift also reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 with “Patient Zero,” giving her 16 career leaders on the chart. The song became the focus track from “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore” and follows “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite” as the third No. 1 from the album.

The other three new “Encore” tracks also opened inside the Hot 100’s top five. “Cleveland!” debuted at No. 3, “Babylon” at No. 4 and “Pink Clouding” at No. 5, giving Swift five songs in the top five on the latest chart.

Tinashe achieved her first top 10 album on the Billboard 200 as “Popstar” debuted at No. 6. The project earned 35,500 equivalent album units, including 22,000 in album sales and 13,500 in streaming-equivalent units.

“Popstar” is Tinashe’s seventh charted Billboard 200 title and her highest-charting album, surpassing the No. 17 peak reached by her 2014 debut, “Aquarius.” The new album follows the success of “No Broke Boys,” her collaboration with Disco Lines that reached No. 36 on the Hot 100.

Kenny Chesney also entered the Billboard 200 top 10 with “Silver Sands Marina,” which debuted at No. 7 with slightly more than 35,000 equivalent album units. Nearly 30,000 of those units came from traditional album sales, giving Chesney the top spot on the Top Album Sales chart.

“Silver Sands Marina” gives Chesney his 17th top 10 album on the Billboard 200. The project was preceded by “Carry On,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, extending Chesney’s record for the most leaders on that ranking to 34.

Olivia Rodrigo moved up to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,” while Ella Langley’s “Dandelion” fell to No. 3. Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” remained at No. 4, and Noah Kahan’s “The Great Divide” climbed to No. 5.

The remainder of the Billboard 200 top 10 featured Olivia Dean’s “The Art of Loving” at No. 8, Kahan’s “Stick Season” at No. 9 and Drake’s “ICEMAN” at No. 10.

On the Hot 100, Swift’s “Patient Zero” led the chart, followed by Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.” Swift’s “Cleveland!” ranked No. 3, while “Babylon” and “Pink Clouding” occupied Nos. 4 and 5, respectively, as the latest Billboard rankings reflected another week of major activity across pop, country and hip-hop.
