Spanish composer and singer Rafa Tena has joined forces with acclaimed gypsy band Las Negris to release “Morcilla,” an exhilarating new track that masterfully blends flamenco tangos with Cuban guaguancó rhythms.

The song’s playful lyrics explore the cultural connections and journeys between Spain and Cuba, creating a spirited narrative that complements its vibrant rhythms.

The artists’ shared connection to Madrid’s iconic Lavapiés neighbourhood makes this collaboration particularly special. Rafa Tena was born and raised in this culturally rich district during the 1990s, where he spent his formative years exploring local establishments like El Juglar, El Pakesteis, El Botas, El Buscón, and El Eucalipto. Similarly, the Heredia sisters—collectively known as Las Negris—experienced Lavapiés through its vibrant flamenco scene, particularly at the legendary venue El Candela.

“Morcilla” represents a homecoming of sorts, bringing together these talented artists whose artistic roots intertwine through the streets and sounds of Lavapiés, despite their different musical journeys.
