Method Man Explains Why He Didn’t Hop on Drake’s ‘Wu-Tang Forever’ Remix

Method Man says he declined to participate in Drake’s remix of Wu‑Tang Forever — a song that originally sampled Wu‑Tang Clan. During a recent appearance on the podcast 7PM in Brooklyn, hosted by Carmelo Anthony, Method Man said that although he respects Drake and his work, the track simply didn’t resonate with him personally.

He explained that when the record was sent to the group while they were overseas, some of the Wu-Tang members began writing verses for it — but he didn’t feel the concept aligned with the essence of Wu-Tang. “I don’t like it … I was like, ‘What does this have to do with Wu-Tang Forever?’” he said.
Method Man clarified he wasn’t questioning Drake’s talent or status. His decision was rooted in personal taste and perspective: for him, the song “wasn’t about what Wu-Tang is about.”
According to published chart data, “Wu-Tang Forever” eventually peaked at No. 52 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 13 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart — even without a formal Wu-Tang collaboration.
Despite the earlier anticipation around a possible remix featuring Wu-Tang Clan, the collaboration never materialized — and now, Method Man’s comments make clear why that remained the case.
