Macklemore has announced that he will donate the entire $1 million in net earnings he received from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour to six organizations supporting Palestinians. The announcement came Wednesday, Sept. 16, after the rapper was removed from the tour following his public support for Palestinians during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

In a statement shared on social media, Macklemore said the donation would be directed to organizations working on humanitarian assistance and support for Palestinians. The groups named include HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, American Near East Refugee Aid, Medical Aid for Palestinians, the UNRWA U.S.A. National Committee and Anera.

Macklemore also called on Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium, to match his $1 million donation. Kraft had confirmed that he was involved in the decision that prevented Macklemore from performing at the September concerts at Gillette Stadium. Kraft cited what he described as Macklemore’s recent actions and a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery.

Macklemore’s removal followed a Sept. 4 performance at MetLife Stadium, where he spoke in support of Palestinians and used the phrase “Free Palestine” before performing his song “Hind’s Hall.” The promoter later said Macklemore had been removed from the remaining U.S. dates because stadium venues would not host him.

Ed Sheeran subsequently said that Macklemore’s removal was the promoter’s decision and not his own. Sheeran said he has personal views about the conflict but has chosen not to publicly advocate for a particular political position.

The controversy has also affected the rest of Sheeran’s U.S. touring lineup. Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Sheeran’s backing band Beoga have withdrawn from the remaining shows. Their departures followed Macklemore’s removal and were described by the performers as solidarity with him.

Kraft has since said he remains committed to humanitarian efforts involving both Palestinians and Israelis. He also said his objection to Macklemore performing at Gillette Stadium was based on his stated concerns about the rapper’s past statements and imagery, while distinguishing those concerns from support for humanitarian assistance to Palestinians.

The latest developments come as Sheeran’s Loop Tour prepares to continue its U.S. schedule, with the controversy surrounding Macklemore’s removal now extending beyond the tour itself to questions about donations, venue decisions and the involvement of artists and promoters in political issues.
