Los Hermanos del Alma Teams with South African Deep House Pioneer Cuebur for “Oya (Cuebur Spirit Radio Edit Remix)”

Los Hermanos del Alma announces the release of “Oya (Cuebur Spirit Radio Edit Remix)” – a transcendent collaboration with renowned South African deep house maestro Cuebur. The remix transforms the band’s Afro-Cuban foundation into a hypnotic, ancestral deep house experience designed for the most discerning dancefloors.
The journey began in Cuba in 2019, where Alexandre Sumi and his brother forged profound connections that intertwined music with authentic friendship. This Cuban immersion marked a pivotal transformation from their previous incarnation as SUMO – a band that had explored electro, soul, funk, trip-hop, and dub since the late 1990s – into the more expansive Los Hermanos del Alma project.
Los Hermanos del Alma’s connection to Cuba runs deep, built through multiple cultural exchanges including performances at the prestigious Habanarte festival (2016) and Cubadisco (2017). These experiences culminated in their 2019 artistic exile to Havana, where they created their new album “Oya” – an Afro-Cuban rock record that defies categorization.
The “Oya” album represents a sonic UFO blending Afro-beat, rock-fusion, Latin-jazz, and Afro-Cuban soul voices. Produced in true immersion in Havana, the record was crafted with a tribe of local musicians, capturing the authentic spirit of Cuban musical culture.
“Oya (Cuebur Spirit Radio Edit Remix)” is available on all streaming platforms.
