Richard Green Unveils Genre-Blending Single “Just Different” from Trilogy Project ‘A Journey’

Composer and artist Richard Green has released his new single “Just Different,” a track that seamlessly blends classical, jazz, and blues influences into a deeply reflective musical narrative. Originally released in February 2022 as part of his debut EP A Journey, the first installment of a planned music trilogy, the song continues to resonate for its emotional depth and genre-defying composition.
“Just Different” was born from a series of remote collaborations during the pandemic, bringing together the talents of Italian pianist Irene Veneziano and the Achimia string quartet. The result is a piece that balances elegant classical arrangements with the soulful spontaneity of blues and jazz, creating a sound that is both structured and emotionally fluid.

Thematically, the track explores the universal experience of adolescence, the feeling of being different, misunderstood, or out of place. Green frames this experience with a message of affirmation. “The word ‘JUST’ in the title is meant to say that ‘different’ is not a bad thing,” he explains. “It’s human, especially when we’re young. But we shouldn’t confuse ‘different’ with ‘bad’, they are totally different.”
As the most experimental track on the A Journey EP, “Just Different” stands out for its harmonic sophistication and emotional accessibility. Green describes the composition as having “some very brilliant ideas in terms of music arrangement and harmonies,” noting its originality within the broader project.
For Green, the release is more than a single; it’s the opening chapter of a larger story. A Journey is the first of three EPs conceived as a cohesive musical trilogy, each exploring phases of personal and emotional growth through instrumental storytelling.
