Latin Faculty Shares A Smooth Fusion of Jazz, Blues, and Latin Vibes With New Single “So Nice”

Latin Faculty, a group of talented Icelandic musicians led by composer Ingvi Þór Kormáksson, is excited to announce the release of their new single, So Nice. This track is the first release from their upcoming album, Latínudeildin, set to drop later this year or early next year. This marks the beginning of a two-album project, with the first album featuring lyrics in Icelandic and the second album showcasing instrumental versions of the same tracks.
So Nice blends soothing jazz instrumentation with captivating Latin rhythms, creating a laid-back atmosphere perfect for easy listening. The stunning vocals of Rebekka Blöndal, an award-winning jazz singer and vocal coach, add depth to the track, harmonizing effortlessly with the music to create a heartfelt listening experience.
The forthcoming album will feature a mix of Blues, Jazz, and Latin-inspired songs, with Kormáksson’s unique style, incorporating jazzy chord progressions, bossanova rhythms, and folk music traditions—standing at the forefront. Having written for over 170 recorded compositions and collaborating with JJ Soul from Oxford, Kormáksson has carved out a distinguished career as a composer.
“I’ve always admired Brazilian music, especially the works of Jobim, Bonfá, Lins, and other Brazilian composers,” says Kormáksson. “Bossanova and samba rhythms have always found a place in my music, whether in blues, folk, or smooth-jazz styles. So Nice is just a glimpse of what’s to come in the full album, where the music will take listeners on a journey through jazz, blues, and Latin sounds.”
Stay tuned for the upcoming album Latínudeildin and its instrumental counterpart, Latin Faculty.
