Paul Frazer Clarke and Will Champlin Unite for the Synth-Pop Journey of “Cycle”
Perth-based composer and producer Paul Frazer Clarke continues his ambitious “Five Coordinates” EP series with “Cycle”, a warm, synth-driven indie-pop collaboration featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Will Champlin. Blending shimmering analog synths, infectious melodies, and polished production, the single captures the spirit of modern synth-pop while drawing inspiration from artists such as Roosevelt, Empire of the Sun, St. Lucia, and Tame Impala.
As the second release in the five-part Five Coordinates project, Cycle brings together two accomplished musicians from opposite sides of the world. Will Champlin, based in Los Angeles, is widely recognized as the son of legendary Chicago vocalist Bill Champlin, a Top 3 finalist on The Voice US, and a Grammy Award-winning songwriter for Heather Headley. His impressive résumé also includes contributing piano to a posthumous Michael Jackson release, adding another milestone to an already distinguished career.
On Cycle, Champlin’s expressive vocals blend effortlessly with Paul Frazer Clarke’s lush production, creating an uplifting record built around warm synth textures, driving basslines, and rich harmonies. Describing the track as “very Tame Impala,” Champlin brings a soulful performance that perfectly complements the song’s nostalgic yet contemporary atmosphere.
For Paul Frazer Clarke, Cycle represents another chapter in a career spanning more than three decades. The Perth-based composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist has worked across virtually every corner of the music industry, from signing with Epic Records and publishing through Warner Chappell and MCA Music to building a long-standing relationship with Sonoton Music, Europe’s largest independent production music library. His catalogue of more than 200 compositions has appeared across internationally recognized platforms including The Oprah Winfrey Show, the BBC, National Geographic, and Dragon’s Den.
Clarke also co-wrote and co-produced the first drum and bass album in history under the name Fast Floor and has collaborated with celebrated musicians including Grammy-winning slide guitarist Lucky Oceans, jazz fusion icon Jeff Lorber, Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ Naim Cortazzi, and Australian vocalist Sharin Attamimi. Today, his music continues to receive regular international airplay while being published worldwide through Blushing Zebra Music and administered by Sentric Music, part of the Believe Group.
