Singer-songwriter and producer Kiey opens a new chapter in his artistic journey with “phan thiet,” the lead single from his upcoming album METROMIRAGE. Combining dream pop textures with contemporary R&B influences, the release introduces the emotional and sonic world that will define the project ahead.
Unlike Kiey’s previous English titled releases, “phan thiet” takes its name from the Vietnamese coastal city where the song was born. During a family trip along the road from Phan Thiết to Ho Chi Minh City during Lunar New Year 2026, Kiey found himself inspired by the ocean, the sea breeze, and the feeling of freedom that comes from watching the coastline pass by. The first melodies and lyrics were written in that moment, with the artist aiming to translate that atmosphere into sound.
The result is a song that feels gentle, nostalgic, and deeply reflective. Through dreamy production and emotional storytelling, “phan thiet” follows a young man revisiting memories of a seaside journey shared with someone he loved. As the song unfolds, those memories slowly give way to acceptance as he confronts the painful reality that she is gone, leaving only traces of her presence behind.
The cinematic concept mirrors the themes at the heart of the song itself: memory, longing, loss, and the difficulty of letting go. Together, the music and visuals create a story that feels intimate while carrying the scale of science fiction and psychological drama.
With “phan thiet,” Kiey continues to build a distinctive artistic identity that balances emotional honesty with cinematic ambition, delivering a release that lingers long after both the song and the final scene have ended.
