Italian-American singer-songwriter Jessa V Salerno announces the release of “Rimani,” the first instalment of a bold new art song project that blends classical opera with contemporary indie and jazz sensibilities—a distinctive sound recognised as ‘popera.’ “Rimani” offers a contemporary musical interpretation of the evocative poem by Italian literary icon Gabriele D’Annunzio.

With lush vocal lines and a minimalist, atmospheric arrangement, the track bridges centuries of romantic tradition with today’s sonic language, creating an intimate listening experience that honours both classical and modern sensibilities.

“Rimani” marks the debut entry in an ongoing series of contemporary art songs inspired by iconic Italian poets. The next piece in the cycle, based on “Ieri Sera Era Amore” by Alda Merini, is scheduled for release in the coming weeks.

With a four-octave range and dual degrees in music, Jessa V has established herself as a boundary-defying artist blending genre, language, and era. Based in New York City, she performs regularly with her band and as a soloist in venues that celebrate both classical and contemporary forms.

As the project takes shape, Jessa V is also exploring performance opportunities in Italy, bringing this music back to its roots through a live tour celebrating Italy’s poetic heritage in song.
