BLACKPINK Covers Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ at Wembley Stadium Show in London

BLACKPINK concluded their two-night stint at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium with a surprise encore performance of the Spice Girls’ 1996 debut single “Wannabe,” delighting fans and paying tribute to the legendary girl group .

The group, comprising Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, made history as the first K-pop girl group to headline Wembley Stadium, joining ranks with global icons like Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Oasis—and fellow K-pop group BTS .

The Wembley shows, part of their expansive Deadline World Tour, spanned two nights (August 15–16), each drawing around 70,000 fans and delivering a 2.5-hour spectacle filled with laser shows, pyrotechnics, video walls, and massive choreography.

The set list featured major hits including Kill This Love, Pink Venom, How You Like That, Playing With Fire, Lovesick Girls, DDU‑DU DDU‑DU, and their comeback single Jump—which shattered records with 26 million views in 24 hours—performed twice due to its popularity

The “Wannabe” encore marked a nostalgic nod to the Spice Girls—who BLACKPINK previously admired during their Carpool Karaoke appearance with James Corden in 2023, where Jennie remarked on the group’s individual personas and iconic status.

Fans were divided over the performance, with many observing that only Rosé appeared to sing, while others defended it as a light-hearted moment—highlighting the group’s fun and spontaneity on stage .

The Deadline tour, launched in July in Seoul with the release of Jump, spans 31 stadium shows across Asia, North America, and Europe, and is expected to become the highest‑grossing tour by a female group, surpassing their previous Born Pink tour and even the Spice Girls’ record.
