Fans Choose Dove Cameron’s ‘When in Rome’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music

Dove Cameron’s “When in Rome” has been selected by fans as their favorite new music release of the week in Billboard’s latest poll. The song topped a field of new releases that included music from Jhené Aiko, Slayyyter, Bleachers and other artists.

Released Sept. 9, “When in Rome” marks Cameron’s first new music of 2026 and serves as the first single from her forthcoming debut full-length album. The track was released through Disruptor Records/Columbia Records and runs for just over three minutes.

The song was produced by CJ Baran, whose previous production credits include work with MARINA and Carly Rae Jepsen. Cameron’s accompanying music video was directed by Hannah Devries and filmed in and around Capena, Italy.

Cameron had been previewing the release with postcards and social media footage from Italy before unveiling the song. The video continues that setting with a cinematic presentation built around the Italian backdrop and the song’s romantic theme.

“When in Rome” follows Cameron’s run of 2025 singles, including “Too Much,” “French Girls,” “Romeo,” “Whatever You Like” and “Hello My Old Lover.” Those releases came after her 2023 EP Alchemical: Volume 1.

The new single also arrives ahead of Cameron’s upcoming North American run as a supporting act on Sombr’s You Are the Reason Tour. She is scheduled to appear on 13 dates, including two shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

With “When in Rome” now leading Billboard’s weekly fan poll, Cameron’s latest release has become the standout choice among this week’s new music selections.
