Cristiano Cosa & Roberto Angelini Release Intimate Acoustic EP “The Loft Session”

The Loft Session is a quietly powerful acoustic EP by Cristiano Cosa & Roberto Angelini, offering a minimalist reinterpretation of three songs from Cosa Sono Io, Cosa’s debut album. Recorded live in a single take inside a loft in the heart of Rome, the project captures a rare sense of closeness and immediacy, where performance, space, and silence carry as much weight as the notes themselves.

At the center of the EP is the delicate interplay between Cristiano Cosa’s piano and Roberto Angelini’s lapsteel guitar. Rather than following a traditional accompaniment role, the instruments exist in constant conversation, creating a suspended and intimate atmosphere that feels both fragile and intentional. The stripped-back setting allows the songs to unfold slowly, revealing new emotional layers and giving listeners room to fully inhabit the sound.
The recording process was as essential to the project as the music itself. Performed live in one uninterrupted take, The Loft Session embraces imperfection, breath, and instinct. For Roberto Angelini, the collaboration carries a longer personal history. Reflecting on first meeting Cosa nearly a decade ago, he recalls crossing paths while working as a coach on the Italian TV program Amici.
The EP brings together three songs connected by a shared emotional thread: the search for identity and inner balance. “Girandola” tells a story of generational momentum through the eyes of a boy already leaning toward adulthood, with the pinwheel becoming a symbol of innocence and resistance to time. “La Voglia” centers on a woman with an eternally youthful soul, whose intensity reflects something deeply familiar back to the listener.
With The Loft Session, Cristiano Cosa & Roberto Angelini offer a work rooted in authenticity and attentive listening.
