Bino Rideaux and Blacc Sam recently came together at Billboard House during R&B Hip-Hop Week to discuss Nipsey Hussle’s legacy and the release of their long-awaited collaborative album, PROLIFIC. The conversation focused on the project’s origins, Nipsey’s creative vision and the ongoing effort to carry forward the Marathon brand and the rapper’s work.

PROLIFIC, credited to Nipsey Hussle and Bino Rideaux, was released Aug. 14, 2026, through All Money In, Out The Blue Records and Atlantic Records. The 15-track project was created from music Hussle and Rideaux recorded during a three-month period in 2017, nearly two years before Hussle’s death in 2019.

The project debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200, giving the posthumous album a strong opening on the U.S. albums chart. Billboard subsequently scheduled Blacc Sam, Nipsey’s brother, and Rideaux for a conversation about the album and the work of continuing Hussle’s Marathon following his death.

According to reporting surrounding the album, Hussle was directly involved in the project while he was alive. He and Rideaux recorded the material together and sequenced the album during Hussle’s lifetime. Hussle also selected the photograph that became the album’s cover, providing a direct connection between the finished release and the period when the music was originally created.

Rideaux’s relationship with Hussle dates back to their work together in Los Angeles, with Rideaux becoming part of the Marathon’s wider musical circle. The PROLIFIC sessions captured that relationship before Hussle’s 2019 death and eventually became the basis for the 2026 album.

Blacc Sam has remained closely involved in preserving and expanding Hussle’s artistic and business legacy. Ahead of the album’s release, he and Rideaux discussed the project publicly, including the circumstances surrounding its creation and the broader Marathon mission. Their conversations have also highlighted Los Angeles and the culture surrounding Hussle’s work.

The album has continued to generate activity since its release. PROLIFIC is available as a 15-song project with a runtime of roughly 47 minutes, bringing together music recorded by Hussle and Rideaux years before its official arrival.

The Billboard House appearance placed the album and Hussle’s legacy within Billboard’s 2026 R&B Hip-Hop Week programming in New York. The Sept. 9 event also featured conversations involving The Roots, Jill Scott, Kehlani and Monaleo, with Rideaux and Blacc Sam’s discussion specifically centered on Hussle and the continuation of the Marathon following his passing.

The release of PROLIFIC marks the first posthumous Nipsey Hussle project built around his recordings with Rideaux, adding another chapter to the catalog he left behind. The album’s Billboard 200 debut and the Billboard House discussion have kept attention on the music Hussle and Rideaux created together nearly a decade before the project reached listeners.
