Billie Eilish’s James Cameron-Directed 3D Concert Film Delayed: ‘Worth the Wait’

Billie Eilish and acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron have announced a delay in the release of their upcoming 3D concert film, Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D). Originally scheduled to debut in theaters on March 20, 2026, the Paramount-distributed film will now open on May 8, 2026. The postponement was confirmed by Cameron on social media, where he shared that the additional time will be used to refine the edit, integrate advanced 3D technology and include special behind-the-scenes content.

Cameron described the decision as making the project “worth the wait,” a sentiment echoed by Eilish in her own social posts. Captured during Eilish’s sold-out tour in support of her third studio album, the concert film marks her first major theatrical concert release and is co-directed with Cameron, blending live performance footage with immersive 3D visuals. The shift to a May release places the movie alongside other high-profile spring films at the box office and builds anticipation for what has been described as an innovative cinematic concert experience.
