Artists With the Most No. 1 Songs on the Hot 100, From The Beatles to Rihanna to Drake & More
The Beatles continue to hold the all-time record for the most No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, with 20 chart-topping hits since the ranking began in 1958. Mariah Carey follows with 19, while Rihanna and Taylor Swift are tied with 14 each. Drake ranks alongside them with 14 No. 1s after adding another leader in 2026.
The Beatles’ 20 No. 1s came during one of the most dominant periods in Hot 100 history. The group first reached the summit in 1964 with “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and went on to collect 18 No. 1s during the 1960s alone. Their final chart-topper was “The Long and Winding Road,” which spent two weeks at No. 1 in 1970.

Carey remains the leading solo artist in Hot 100 history with 19 No. 1 songs. Her run began with “Vision of Love” in 1990 and has continued across four decades. Her chart-toppers include “Fantasy,” “One Sweet Day” with Boyz II Men, “We Belong Together” and “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Rihanna has earned 14 No. 1s, beginning with “SOS” in 2006. Her other leaders include “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z, “Disturbia,” “Only Girl (In the World),” “We Found Love” featuring Calvin Harris and “Work” featuring Drake. Her 60 weeks at No. 1 rank among the highest totals in Hot 100 history.
Drake has also reached 14 No. 1s, with his latest arriving in 2026. “Janice STFU” debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 following the release of his projects “ICEMAN,” “HABIBTI” and “MAID OF HONOUR.” The achievement extended his record for No. 1 debuts, while also making him the solo male artist with the most No. 1s in chart history.
Taylor Swift joined the 14-No. 1 club through a series of chart-topping releases that have continued into the current decade. Her leaders include “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Blank Space,” “Look What You Made Me Do,” “Anti-Hero” and “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version).” Her recent chart success has also expanded her records for total Hot 100 entries and simultaneous chart appearances.
Michael Jackson follows with 13 No. 1 songs. His chart-topping catalog includes “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Man in the Mirror,” “Black or White” and “You Are Not Alone.” Madonna and The Supremes each have 12 No. 1s, placing them among the most successful acts in the history of the chart.
Whitney Houston has 11 No. 1 songs, while Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder each have 10. Houston’s leaders include “Saving All My Love for You,” “How Will I Know,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “I Will Always Love You.”
The Hot 100 continues to change as streaming, digital sales and radio airplay determine the weekly rankings. Recent years have also produced unusually large numbers of chart entries for major artists, with Drake setting a record in 2026 by placing 42 songs on the Hot 100 simultaneously following the release of his three albums.
The current No. 1 race therefore reflects both the longevity of established superstars and the changing ways audiences consume music. The Beatles remain at the top with 20 No. 1s, followed by Carey with 19, while Rihanna, Swift and Drake remain among the artists closest to the all-time record.
