PinkPantheress Says Hitting Pause on Music Last Year Was ‘For My Own Good’
In a candid reflection, PinkPantheress has opened up about her decision to step back from the music scene in 2024, describing it as a necessary move for her well-being. The 23-year-old British singer-songwriter, known for her viral hits like “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2,” took to social media to announce the cancellation of all her remaining tour dates for the year, including her role as an opening act for Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts Tour and performances at major festivals such as Summer Sonic and Field Day.
In an Instagram story, PinkPantheress expressed, “It is with the heaviest heart that I sadly have to announce that I will not be able to continue with the rest of my live shows this year in order to focus on my physical health and overall well-being. It appears I have reached a wall which I am struggling to penetrate through.”
The decision came after a period of intense touring and creative output, including the release of her debut album Heaven Knows in November 2023. Despite the success, PinkPantheress recognized the importance of prioritizing her mental and physical health. She acknowledged the disappointment her fans might feel but emphasized that the break was essential for her to return stronger and more focused.
Since her hiatus, PinkPantheress has been working on new music and is set to release her second mixtape, Fancy That, on May 9, 2025. The lead single, “Tonight,” dropped in April and has been well-received by fans eager for her return. In January, she teased her comeback with a studio photo and the message, “Oh we are soooo back #2025,” signaling her readiness to re-engage with her audience.
PinkPantheress’s decision to pause her career underscores the importance of self-care in the demanding music industry. Her openness about her struggles and the steps she’s taking to address them serves as a reminder that artists, too, need time to recharge and focus on their health. As she prepares to release new music, fans can look forward to her continued evolution as an artist.
