AC Scott Finds New Beginnings on Debut Album “Out Of The Blue”
Scottish singer-songwriter AC Scott makes a remarkable introduction with Out Of The Blue, a deeply personal debut album that transforms life’s biggest challenges into songs of resilience, hope, and self-discovery. Released via Right Track/Universal Distribution, the ten-track collection reflects an artist who found her true musical voice later in life, proving that some journeys begin exactly when they’re meant to.
Written largely at her late father’s desk during quiet evenings of reflection, Out Of The Blue captures moments of loss, healing, courage, and renewal. Rather than following a single musical path, the album moves effortlessly between heartfelt piano ballads, cinematic pop, rock anthems, funk-driven grooves, and soulful storytelling. Tracks including Sometimes, 15 Minutes of Fame, and Never Too Late highlight AC Scott’s ability to combine emotional honesty with memorable melodies, creating an album that feels both intimate and uplifting.
The project draws from a lifetime of experiences. Before pursuing music, AC Scott—also known as Alison Craig—built an award-winning career in broadcasting, becoming a chart-topping radio presenter, Sony Award winner, bestselling novelist, and familiar television personality through appearances on The One Show. However, everything changed after being diagnosed with a degenerative lung condition that forced her to step away from broadcasting.
Faced with an uncertain future, Scott turned to songwriting as a personal form of healing. What began as a private creative outlet soon became an unstoppable source of inspiration, resulting in hundreds of songs and collaborations with respected producers and songwriters across the UK and the United States. Today, Out Of The Blue represents the culmination of that journey—a debut that feels less like a first chapter and more like the beginning of a completely new life.

The album’s musical diversity reflects Scott’s wide-ranging influences. While songs such as Sometimes showcase vulnerable, reflective songwriting, tracks like Trouble Ahead introduce funk-inspired rhythms and spoken-word elements reminiscent of classic New Wave, while Party People embraces upbeat electronic production inspired by disco, punk, and early hip-hop. Together, the songs create a body of work that is emotionally rich while remaining fresh and unpredictable.
Scott’s songwriting has already attracted industry recognition. Both Sometimes and Highlands were named semi-finalists in the UK Songwriter of the Year competition, while Who Do You Think You Are has also earned semi-finalist recognition in this year’s edition. The latter captures the album’s central message of overcoming self-doubt and embracing personal belief, serving as one of the project’s most empowering moments.
Growing up in Aberdeen surrounded by music, Scott initially set aside her own musical ambitions in favour of a successful media career that saw her interview artists including Bryan Ferry and Victoria Beckham while hosting television and radio programmes across the UK. Following her health diagnosis, she turned to writing novels, publishing a bestselling trilogy through Orion, with one book later adapted for film by Jason Connery. Yet music remained the creative ambition she could never leave behind.
A songwriting retreat on Scotland’s west coast reignited that passion, leading to collaborations with respected industry figures including A&R veteran Kate Hyman and Emmy Award-winning songwriter and producer Andrew Rollins. Recording sessions took place between the Scottish Highlands, London, and Los Angeles, with Scott even travelling across the Atlantic by ship due to her inability to fly, demonstrating the determination that has come to define her artistic journey.
With Out Of The Blue, AC Scott delivers an inspiring debut that celebrates resilience without losing sight of vulnerability. Rich in emotion, melodic craftsmanship, and lived experience, the album introduces a songwriter whose journey proves that it’s never too late to discover where you truly belong.
