Dallas Rapper ZeeTheWizard Dead at 25 Following New Year’s Shooting

Dallas rapper Zec’Qurie Cannon Grant Fields, known professionally as ZeeTheWizard, has died at 25 after sustaining injuries in a shooting during the early hours of New Year’s Day in Dallas, authorities confirmed. Fields was shot shortly before 4 a.m. on Jan. 1 outside the Pink House Dallas, an after-hours club near Empire Central and the North Stemmons Freeway, where he had been booked to perform at the venue’s grand opening. Multiple people were struck in the incident and five victims, including Fields, were transported to nearby hospitals.

Fields was critically injured in the parking lot altercation and was placed on life support before later dying from his wounds on Jan. 5, according to the Dallas Police Department. Police have not disclosed information on the other victims’ conditions, and no suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the shooting.
A rising artist in the Dallas hip-hop scene, ZeeTheWizard had released projects including Hood Prophet and Words of WIZdom and had signed with Future’s Freebandz label in 2025. His music had garnered attention locally and beyond, and he was associated with Dallas’s “New Dallas” movement of artists promoting unity and positivity.
Following news of his passing, tributes poured in from family, friends and fellow artists on social media, highlighting his impact on the community and his encouragement to others through his music and message. His sister posted that he had been “more than an artist” and had consistently encouraged positivity and hope, urging those who knew him to carry forward his ethos in how they treat others.
