Multi-talented artist Jovanakis has released his compelling new single “Mille anni sono insufficienti”, marking a triumphant return to music for the Ghana-born, Italy-based performer. The track represents both a personal milestone and an artistic statement that bridges continents through innovative musical fusion.

Born in Ghana, Nakis’s childhood in Africa, though challenging, served as his “gym for life,” preparing him to face the complexities of his artistic journey. Music became his constant companion from an early age, thanks to his mother, who sang in a choir, transforming from a “playmate” into a real refuge that would shape his destiny.

At age 14, Nakis moved with his family to Italy, where music continued to serve as his guiding light, helping him navigate life in the working-class neighbourhoods of Monza. His musical evolution in Italy included joining the choir of the Adventist church of Sesto San Giovanni, the vocal group Allelujah, and eventually the gospel choir of Markette, a television program hosted by Piero Chiambretti on La7.

Years ago, during a performance as head entertainer, Nakis suffered a fire accident that temporarily took him away from the stage and his music. However, a fateful meeting with another artist and the beginning of collaboration in the project “The JeKis” rekindled his desire to write music again, abandoning all fear of not being able to please audiences.

Now based in Potenza, Basilicata, Nakis continues his artistic project with a personal representation of world music contaminated with elements of popular and traditional music, blending folk rock with ethnic influences. His music, contrary to what it may seem, is deeply engaging and thought-provoking.
