Barry Manilow Walks Off Stage, Cancels Vegas Shows Due to Bronchitis

Barry Manilow has canceled two Las Vegas performances after contracting bronchitis, bringing an abrupt interruption to his return to the stage following a six-week break. The 83-year-old singer ended his Friday, October 9, concert early at the International Theater at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino and subsequently canceled his scheduled performance on Saturday, October 10.

A representative for Manilow and the resort confirmed the cancellations, telling Variety, “After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows.” The announcement came just one day after the singer returned to the Las Vegas stage following his extended break.

Manilow performed on Thursday, October 8, marking his first appearance at the venue since August 22. During the concert, he acknowledged his previous health difficulties while welcoming the audience back, telling attendees that he had experienced medical problems but was ready to perform again.

The following night, however, his performance ended shortly after it began. Reports from the venue indicated that Manilow sang only two songs before leaving the stage. His band continued playing instrumentals for a short period, but the singer did not return. An announcement over the theater’s public-address system subsequently informed the audience that the show had concluded.

The Saturday concert was canceled before the scheduled performance, with bronchitis cited as the reason. Following Friday’s early conclusion, some attendees reported receiving notifications from Ticketmaster concerning refunds for their tickets. The cancellations left questions about the immediate schedule for Manilow’s Las Vegas residency, although the announced reason for the interruption was his illness.

The latest setback follows a demanding summer schedule. Before taking his six-week break, Manilow said he had completed 29 shows in 68 days and acknowledged that the pace had become difficult to maintain. In a message to fans, he announced that he and his team needed to pause before returning to the Westgate in October.

His recent return also follows several earlier postponements connected to health concerns. In August, Manilow canceled performances after issues described by his representatives as technical and vocal problems. He subsequently announced the break, explaining that the schedule had been too demanding following his summer tour.

Manilow’s health history has included treatment for stage 1 lung cancer. In December 2025, he revealed that doctors had discovered a cancerous spot on his left lung during an MRI and that he had undergone surgery to remove the affected portion. He later said he was cancer-free, although his recovery and other medical complications affected his performance schedule.

Earlier in 2026, the singer also discussed experiencing a prolonged bout of bronchitis before his lung cancer diagnosis. The respiratory illness and subsequent surgery contributed to a series of postponed appearances as he worked toward returning to live performances.

Despite the interruptions, Manilow has continued releasing music and performing when his health permits. His album What a Time, released on June 5, 2026, marked his 33rd studio album and his first collection made up largely of original songs in nearly 15 years.

As of October 11, 2026, the confirmed update is that Manilow’s Friday and Saturday Las Vegas shows were canceled after he contracted bronchitis. His representatives have not announced a further change to the residency beyond those performances, while the singer’s recovery remains central to his return to the stage.
