Morgan Wallen continues to lead Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart history, extending his record for the most cumulative weeks at No. 1. The singer has accumulated 236 weeks at the summit, ahead of Garth Brooks, Alabama and other major names in country music.
The updated ranking highlights artists who have spent at least 50 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, which began as Hot Country Albums in January 1964. The chart tracks the most popular country albums in the United States, incorporating album sales, track-equivalent albums and streaming-equivalent albums.

Wallen’s total has been driven by the extended chart runs of his albums Dangerous: The Double Album, One Thing at a Time and I’m the Problem. Dangerous: The Double Album spent 97 weeks at No. 1, the longest run by any album in the chart’s history, while One Thing at a Time logged 87 weeks at the top.
Garth Brooks holds second place with 173 weeks at No. 1. The country superstar first topped the chart in October 1990 with No Fences, which spent 41 weeks at the summit. His total includes multiple studio albums, live releases, Christmas projects and box sets.
Alabama ranks third with 125 weeks at No. 1, making the group the highest-ranking band on the list. The group’s albums Feels So Right and Mountain Music each spent 28 weeks at the top during the early 1980s.
Willie Nelson follows with 107 weeks at No. 1, while Taylor Swift has accumulated 101 weeks. Swift remains the highest-ranking female solo artist on the chart, with her total including the original and re-recorded editions of Fearless, Speak Now and Red. Her album Fearless spent 35 weeks at No. 1 in 2008 and 2009.
Kenny Rogers is next with 99 weeks at No. 1, followed by Shania Twain with 97 weeks. Twain’s Come On Over spent 50 weeks at the summit, becoming one of the longest-running No. 1 albums in the chart’s history.

Glen Campbell, Merle Haggard and Eddy Arnold have each accumulated 51 weeks at No. 1. LeAnn Rimes and Kenny Chesney round out the list of artists with at least 50 weeks, each having spent 50 weeks at the summit.
The chart’s history also reflects changes in country music consumption, from the vinyl era to the rise of CDs, digital downloads and streaming. Billboard’s Top Country Albums ranking continues to measure album popularity across those formats, allowing contemporary artists such as Wallen to be compared with performers whose chart success began decades earlier.
